Özet
Bu çalışmada, Ordu ilinin Mesudiye bölgesinden toplanan Miyosen (?)-Pliyosen yaşlı bazalt örneklerinden yermanyetik alanının paleo-şiddeti tayin edilmiştir. Örnekler aynı jeolojik birimden yönlü örnek alma kurallarına uygun şekilde el örneği olarak toplanmıştır. Örneklerin paleo-şiddet tayinine uygunluğunu anlamak için sıcaklık-mıknatıslanma eğrileri çizilmiş, maden mikroskopunda manyetik mineralleri incelenmiş ve sonuçların güvenilirliği için bazı güvenlik testleri yapılmıştır. Şiddet tayininde "alternatif alan demanyetizasyon eğrilerini karşılaştırma yöntemi" kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada oniki ölçü örneğine (spe-cimen) ait doğal kalıntı mıknatıslanma (DKM) - ısıl kalıntı mıknatıslanma (IKM) alternatif alan demanyetizasyon eğrileri karşılaştınlmıştır. Sonuçta, kayaçların oluşturduğu jeolojik döneme vejeomanyetik enleme ait yermanyetik alanın paleo-şiddeti 0.211 ±0.038x$10^{-4}$ T bulunmuştur. Bu paleo-şiddetin ekvator değeri 0.128±0.023x$l0^{-4}$ T ve bu değeri doğuran dipol moment ise 2.77x1022 Am^2 olarak hesaplanmıştır.
Abstract
Paleointensity of the Earth's magnetic field has been determined from Miocene (?)- Pliocene aged basalt samples collected from the Mesudiye (Ordu) region. The samples were taken as oriented hand samples from the same geologic unit. Thermomag-, netic curves and magnetic mineralogy of the samples were examined as to whether or not they are suitable for determination of the paleointensity. Some confidence tests were made for reliability of the results. The method which matches alternatif field demagnetization curves has been used to determine paleointensity. In this study, alternating field demagnetization curves of the natural remanent magnetization (NRM) and thermoremanent magnetization (TRM) of twelve specimens have been matched. Consequently, the paleointensity of the EartlVs magnetic field has been determined to be 0.211 ±0.038x$10^{-4}$ T for the geomagnetic latitude and geologic period in which the focks formecîVrhe equatorial and dipol moment values of the paleointensity have been calculated to be 0.128+0.023x$10^{-4}$ T and 2.77x$10^Am2$, respectively.
