Özet

Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası (Partisi) Tek Parti döneminde kurulan ikinci muhalefet partisidir. Fethi Bey'in başkanlığında kısa sürede örgütlenen parti, 1930'lar Türkiye'sinin sosyal-ekonomik zorlukları arasında, özellikle kıyı kentlerinde yoğun bir ilgiyle karşılanmıştır. Fethi Bey'in Ege gezisi bu ilgiyi doruğa çıkarmıştır. Bu gezinin önemli duraklarından biri de Aydın şehriydi. Aydın'da Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası'nın örgütlenmesi muhalefete hazır bir kitle bulunduğundan oldukça kolay oldu. Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası aynı zamanda, Türk siyasi yaşamının önemli isimlerinden Adnan Menderes'i de ilk kez siyasete çeken partidir. Adnan Menderes, Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası'nın Aydın il başkanlığını yapmıştır. Faaliyet gösterdiği kısa süre içerisinde bir kez belediye seçimlerine katılan Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası, umulanın ötesinde başarı elde etmiştir. Başarı kazandığı şehirlerden biri de Aydın olmuştur. Belediye seçimleri ve seçimler sırasında yaşananlar Aydın'da kavgayı körüklemiş, halk arasında ayrılıklara yol açmıştır. Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası, gerilen siyasi ve toplumsal yapıyı sakinleştirmek için kendini feshetmiş, ikinci çok partili hayata geçiş denemesi başarısızlıkla sonuçlanmıştır. Partinin kendisini feshetmesinin yankılarının ardından, Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası 'nın toplumu yeniden toplaması, partinin devletle bütünleşmesi sonucunu hazırlamıştır.

Abstract

The Free Republican Party is the second party in the single-party era. The party, organized in a very short time under the leadership of Fethi Bey, was greatly concerned by the people especially in the coastal cities during the socio-economical problems happened in Turkey of 1930s. Fethi Bey 's Aegean expedition made this interest higher. One of the most important places of this expedition was the city of Aydın. The organization of the Free Republican Party was so easy there due to the crowds of people ready for the opposition. It was the Free Republican Party that an important personality of the Turkish political life, Adnan Menderes, started politics at first. He became also the chief of the party in Aydın. The party which participated in the municipality election only once in a short time after being organized, made a great success than expected in lots of cities, one of which was Aydın. The events, during the municipality election and the election, urged the conflicts and led to the struggles in public. To calm the uneasy political and social situation down, the Free Party abolished itself and thus, the second attempt to the multi-party system ended in failure. After the abolition of the Free Republican Party, this led to re-gathering of the community by the People's Republican Party and agreement between this party and the state again.
