Abstract
The modern world put too much emphasis on the value of science. In this way, while value of scientific experience has increased, the value of religious experience has been reduced. Muhammad Iqbal, who is one of the most prominent Muslim thinkers of the twentieth century, constructed a philosophy of religion on the basis of resolving this problem. He put religious experience in significant position and provided the value as it deserves in his philosophy. In his opinion, religious experience is "immediate experience of God". But it does not differ from other levels of human experience. Because, for Iqbal, its immediacy means that "we know God just as we know other objects". In other words, like our other experiences, religious experience supplies data for knowledge. Accordingly, it has a cognitive aspect. Furthermore, according to Iqbal's thought, religious experience brings into being "Perfect Man" as an embodiment of "human-being". Thus, this experience implies "a creative process" and "intimate relationship between God and man".
