İzmir'in Çeşme İlçesinde Çeşme Mimarisi

Abstract

The main concern of this article is the fountains which are the sources giving the name of Çeşme (İzmir) which is an important tourism center nowadays and at the same time receives attention with its historical and cultural wealth. Sixteen fountains which are dated to the 16th and 19th centuries have been found in Çeşme. These fountains are divided into types such as dependent, independent and with water reservoir in accordance with the places they are located. Aç regards their face composition their conical arched, round arched and straight arched patterns exist. In the sense of plain fountains through arch-forms, moulds and epitaphs the mobility has provided. Besides in some fountains geometric and plant ornaments reflect the features of the 19th century which have the Baroque and Ampiric style.
