Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the opinions of students, who were studying in the department of Industrial Product Design (DIPD) and Department of Nursing (DN) of a university on design practices for nursing care products. This descriptive study was conducted with 83 students of a university (DN=55; DIPD=28). In the first phase of the study, a two-day workshop was organized with DIPD and DN (Day 1: theoretical training, Day 2: practical training). Following the workshop, practices were continued in design studios for 10 weeks including two hours a week. At the end of practices, “The Questionnaire for the determination of DIPD and DN’s opinions on Design Practices of Nursing Care Products” was applied. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used to analyze data. Also, %96,4 of the students indicated that design practices contributed to create ideas on the design of new products. It was determined that collaboration of DIPD and DN students in designing new products had positive contributions.
