It was found that 23.6 % of the mothers were in the risk age group at risk, 31.7 % of them were educated about baby care and 44.0 % of them received information from nurses, 85.2 % of them visited their babies at hospital, 97.0 % of them wanted to stay with babies at hospital. It was determined that 23.4 % of the mothers whose babies are an medication after discharge (79.2 %) had difficulties in giving medicine to their babies, 40.0 % of them had difficulties related with the regulation of medical dose. Also 30.7 % of them reported that they had difficulties in bathing their babies, 25.7 % of them mentioned their difficulties in feeding at home. While mothers educated in baby care had no difficulties with diaper rash, 18.8 % of the other mothers had difficulties and the difference between education and diaper rash was determined as meaningful (p< 0.05). According to these results, it is suggested that the mothers should be educated in to home care for babies after hospital discharge and encouraged to participate in their babies' care by nurses.
