Abstract

Purpose: Evaluation of macular retinal nerve fi ber layer (RNFL), ganglion cell layer (GCL), and ganglion cell complex (GCC) in pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PES) by spectral domain-optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). Material and methods: One eye of 30 patients with PES and one eye of 30 healthy subjects were included in the study. The participants' macular screening was performed in 9 quadrants by SD-OCT according to the early treatment diabetic retinopathy study (ETDRS). Retinal layers were automatically divided into segments using SD-OCT's own software and analyzed separately. Results: Statistically thinning was observed in the perifoveal nasal quadrant in RNFL (p = 0.035); in the perifoveal nasal (P = 0.041) and inferior quadrants (p = 0.034) in GCL and in the perifoveal nasal quadrant (p = 0.035) in GCC of the PES group when compared to the control group. There was no signifi cant difference between the two groups in the inner plexiform layer (p
