Özet

Bu araştırma, okul yöneticilerinin disiplin ve disiplin problemlerine yönelik görüşlerini inceleyen olgubilim deseninde nitel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmaya, Adana ilinin Kozan ilçesindeki liselerde görev yapan 18 okul yöneticisi katılmıştır. Görüşme yoluyla toplanan veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre okul yöneticileri disiplini çoğunlukla sorumluluk, sistem ve düzen olarak tanımlamaktadır. Disiplinli bir okulda olması gereken özellikler ise herkesin görevlerini yerine getirmesi, akademik açıdan başarılı olma, eğitsel materyallerin eksiksiz olması, fiziksel açıdan temiz ve düzenli olma olarak tanımlanmıştır. Yöneticiler okullarında yaygın olan disiplin problemlerini akademik sorumlulukları yerine getirmeme, zarar verici madde kullanma ve kılık-kıyafet yönetmeliğine uymama olarak belirtmişlerdir. Yöneticilere göre disiplin problemleri daha çok öğrenci özellikleri ve ailelerinin tutumlarıyla ilişkilidir. Araştırma sonucunda okul yöneticilerinin disiplin problemlerini yönetmede rehberlik servisi, sınıf öğretmeni ve ailelerle işbirliğini harekete geçirdiği ayrıca öğrenciyle bire-bir görüşerek rehberlik yapmaya özen gösterdikleri görülmüştür. Yöneticilerin etkili disiplin için ailelerden okulun karar ve uygulamalarını desteklemelerini; personelden tutarlı davranmalarını; eğitim sisteminden ise disiplin yönetmeliğinin toplumsal şartlara göre güncellenmesini beklemektedir.

Abstract

This research is a phenomenology study which is one of the qualitative studies thatexamines the views of school administrators about discipline and disciplinaryproblems. 18 high school administrators participated to the research in Kozan district.Data collected by interview were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result ofthe study, school administrators defined the discipline as responsibility, system andorder. A disciplined school must have the following features: everyone fulfills theirduties, students should be academically successful, the educational materials arecomplete, and schools are clean and orderly. School administrators listed commondisciplinary problems as: unfulfilled academic responsibilities at high school, the use ofharmful substances, disobeying the dress code and violence. Administrators haveassociated discipline problems with student characteristics and the attitudes of theirfamilies. As a result of the research, it is seen that the school administrators promptguidance service, classroom teacher and family cooperation in the process ofmanaging the disciplinary problems, and they also take care to make interview andguidance work with the students. School administrators' expectations are that theparents should support the school's decisions and that the discipline regulation in theeducation system should be updated in accordance with the social conditions.
