Abstract

Of the two main globalization trends witnessed in the world economy, the first one begins by the time of industrial revolution but is interrupted between the two World Wars, while the second one prevailing for the post-1970 period coincided with many technological changes has just been predominant in today’s world economy. Turkish economy has completed the globalization process in 1989 with numbered 32 bylaw. In such a process, in our paper, our aim is to examine the effects of increasing capital flows subject to different term structures on the economic growth performance for the case of Turkish economy. In this line, by way of employing contemporaneous VARs methodology our ex-post findings reveal that macroeconomic growth performance is mainly sensitive to the course of short-term rather than long-term capital flows, and thus the former can also be characterized, among many other factors, with crisis-led conditions.
