Taşımalı eğitimdeki öğrencilerin tamamı köyde, diğer öğrencilerin %80.0'i kasabada yaşamaktadır. Çocukların yarısından fazlasının anne ve babaları ilkokul mezunudur. Normal eğitimdeki öğrencilerin %60.4' ü, taşımalı eğitimdekilerin de %47.6'sının Beden Kitle İnteks'i 18.5 kg/m2/nin altındadır.
Abstract
This study was made in order to evaluate the nutritional status of the students studying in primary and secondary schools and having either standart or transported education (students transported from village to school). A poll was taken interviewing face to face with 500 students who are 9-17 years olds having standard or transported education in the towns of Serik in Antalya and Gemerek in Sivas. The students are asked about their daily nourishment and their weight and height were measured. All of the students having transported education live in villages, whereas the 80% of the students having a standards education live in small towns. Half of the students' parents are primary school graduates. The BMI of the 60.4% of the students having standard education and the 47.6% of the students having standard education are below 18.5 kg/m2. In both education systems the frequency of having a regular breakfast is 62.8% and 69.6%. Most of the students (92.0%) having a standard education have lunch at their homes. The 24.4% of the students having transported education and 18.8% of the students having standard education stated that they get hungry during the breaks and they eat some biscuits, cake, pastry, and bread. The students', studying in both education systems, energy and nutrient consuming are inadequate compared to their daily nourishment consuming. Although food is given to the students studying in transported education, 60.0% of these students take protein and 67.6% of them take iron in inadequate amounts. The students having transported education should be given nourishment suitable for their energy and nutrient needs and which is prepared by nutrition experts. Also appropriate places should be built for preparing the food.
