Abstract
In the Nag Hammadi Library, the second book of the sixth codex, The Thunder: The Perfect Mind, consists of a single poem with two hundred verses. Whether the poem is a Gnostic text, or it is an aretology in which a divine being describes himself, or it was written to overturn the discursive, psychological and political forms of power in the society, continues to be debated among scholars. This poem, with its structure not complying with any known template, contains much greater difficulties of understanding in terms of its meaning. It is woven with contradictory statements that constantly contradict and refute each other, and then with asymmetrical statements that break the contradiction. In this article, after we compile the discussions on this poem, we seek to indicate how the text is related to types of experiencing the oneness of God. We analyze the meaning of the poem, as a performance based on Durkheim's analysis of ritual and his conception of totemism.
