Özet

Süreksiz katkılarla kuvvetlendirilmiş Alüminyum Metal Matris Kompozit'lere düşük ve yüksek deformasyon hızlarında basma deneyleri uygulanmıştır. Düşük hızlarda $(10^{-3}/s)$ basma deneyleri instron makinası ile yapılmıştır. Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar tekniği yüksek hızlarda (>100 /s) basma deneylerinde kullanılmıştır. Parçacık, whisker ve kısa fiberlerle kuvvetlendirilmiş farklı matris (alüminyum) alaşımlı kompozitler test edilmiştir. Kuvvetlendiricinin deformasyon hızına bağlı gerilmeye etkilerini araştırmak için kompozitlerin kuvvetlendirilmemiş matris alaşımlarıda benzer deformasyon hızlarında test edilmiştir. Kuvvetlendiricinin boyutu ve dağılımının, matris alaşımı ve uygulanan ısıl işlemin test edilen kompozitlerde deformasyon hızına bağlı gerilmeleri etkilediği bulunmuştur.

Abstract

Discontinuous fiber reinforced Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites have been compression tested at quasi-static and high strain rates. Quasi-static $(10^{-3}/s)$ compression tests were conducted using an instron machine. Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar technique was used to test composites at strain rates higher than 100/s. Tested composites were paniculate, whisker and short fiber reinforced and contained different aluminum matrix alloys. In order to investigate effect of reinforcement on the strain rate dependent flow stress, unreinforced matrix alloys of the composites were also tested at similar strain rate regimes. It was found that reinforcement size and orientation, matrix alloy type and heat treatment had affected strain rate dependent flow stress behavior of the the tested metal matrix composites.
