Abstract

Objective: Bilateral vestibulopathy is a rare, heterogeneous, chronic disease with different etiologies. Bilateral vestibulopathy is one of the most common causes of postural imbalance and falls, especially in the elderly. The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of vestibular rehabilitation in patients diagnosed with bilateral vestibulopathy. Material and Methods: Seventeen patients diagnosed with bilateral vestibulopathy were included in our study. In the vestibular system evaluation of all patients, the ear nose throat examination was made with appropriate vestibular tests based on Barany’s criteria, and the diagnosis of vestibulopathy was made. Videonystagmography was used for vestibular tests. Static and dynamic balance were evaluated with the SportKAT 3000 device. After initial evaluation, the patients were included in the vestibular rehabilitation program. The vestibular rehabilitation program was conducted in the form of one-toone for 2 days a week for 4 weeks. After vestibular rehabilitation program was completed, static and dynamic balance scores were compared with initial results. Results: 17 people included in the study, 15 were female and 2 were male, with a mean age of 66.18±12.69 years. Before and after the one-month rehabilitation program of the subjects included in the study were compared. The decrease in static and dynamic balance scores after vestibular rehabilitation was found statistically significant (p
