Abstract
This research aims to investigate the association between choosing partner strategies and relationship satisfaction in students of education faculty. It is also aimed to examine whether the relationship satisfaction of the students differs according to the gender and the number of romantic relationships they experience. The study sample consists of 866 students who study at Sakarya University Faculty of Education and voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. In the study, Choosing Partner Strategies Inventory, Relationship Satisfaction Scale, and The Personal Information Form (prepared by the researcher) were used to collect data. This research was carried out in the correlational survey model. SPSS package software was used for data analysis. Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro Wilk tests were applied to determine whether the obtained data was in the normal distribution. Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient, Kruskal Wallis Test, and Mann-Whitney U Test, which are among the nonparametric tests, were used for data analysis. As a result of the analyzes, a significant positive relationship was found between physical characteristics and the love sub-scale of choosing partner strategies inventory and relationship satisfaction scores of students. There is no statistically significant relationship between family and reliance, socio-economic status, religious and political similarity, virginity, child care sub-scales of choosing partner strategies inventory and relationship satisfaction scores of students. The sub-scale scores of choosing partner strategies inventory, excluding virginity, differ statistically significantly by gender. religious and political similarity, physical characteristics, virginity, and love sub-scale scores differ significantly according to the number of romantic relationships they experience. Also, relationship satisfaction shows a significant difference according to the number of romantic relationships experienced by the participants. The research findings are discussed in light of the relevant literature.
