Abstract

A 25-year-old male patient presented with a one-month history of progressive right visualloss. Magnetic resonance imaging showed 20x18 mm cystic lesion which has a mural nodulecomponent with contrast and arisen from optic chiasm, optic nerve and optic tract. Rightfrontotemporal craniotomy was performed and tumor was totally resected. The histologicaldiagnosis was hemangioblastoma. The patient is not diagnosed as von Hippel-Lindausyndrome. To our knowledge, this is a rare case reported in the literature as opticochiasmatichemangioblastoma without von Hippel-Lindau syndrome should remain in differentialdiagnosis of hemagioblastomas, optic nerve and chiasmatic cystic tumors should be kept inmind, especially in the absence of von Hippel-Lindau syndrome.
