Abstract
Economic and social preferences of tourists are important factors in their travel decisions. However, tourism activities are faced with the possibility of interruption in crisis situations such as natural disasters, political problems, war and epidemics. As in other crises, epidemics cause various changes in the short, medium and long term in the holiday decision process of tourists, in destination choices and in directing their travel behaviors. In order to take precautions at such times, central and local governments make plans for crisis management. In addition, it identifies problems and develops solutions for these problems. The coronavirus epidemic spread to the world from the city of Wuhan, People's Republic of China. This epidemic has negatively affected tourism activities as well as affecting many sectors. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effects of the global epidemic COVID-19 on the tourism industry, to identify the problems of various tourism stakeholders and to offer solutions to these problems. 30 club members were selected from the members of the International Federation of SKÅL Associations (SKÅL), all of whom are tourism professionals, chosen by the purposive sampling method. The data were collected with semi-structured interview form and analyzed by content analysis. According to this; problems experienced by travel agencies, solution suggestions and alternative model suggestions; The problems faced by the hotels, solution suggestions and alternative model suggestions, and the problems faced by other stakeholders, solution suggestions and alternative model suggestions were obtained. It has been determined that there is a decrease in travel due to restrictions and fear of getting sick, and the loss of customers and profits caused by this. One of the results obtained is that the measures taken for operational costs (number of personnel costs, catering costs-COVID-19 prevention costs) negatively affect the service quality despite low prices and low accommodation capacity rates. It is one of the results obtained that due to uncertainty and lack of foresight, no forward planning can be made and restaurants that provide à la carte and juicy meals are not suitable for take-away service, forcing them unable to do any services. It is thought that the results obtained will contribute to the literature, practice and industry.
