Abstract

In this study, it was monthly carried out parasitic examination the diseased fish in the three different fish farms in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey. Scraping samples taken from the skin and gill epithelium of the diseased fish have been examined microscopically. Microscopic examination has been detected the presence of Gyrodactylus spp. on the gills 3-8 and skin 1-15 per individual. It has been observed lose scale and degenerations on the skin of the diseased fish due to parasite irritation and rubbing against the ground. It has been detected the present of ulcerated areas on the skin in the chronic phase of the disease. Besides, it has been defined also microscopically in scraping preparations as seen fungal hyphae on the skin in chronic cases. Different chemicals such as formaldehyde, chloramine-T, formaldehyde+chloramine-T, potassium permanganate, hydrogen peroxide and salt were used in different concentrations for the treatment of Gyrodactylus spp. infections. Salt and hydrogen peroxide baths were found to be effective in the treatment of Gyrodactylus sp. infestasion in Black Sea trout.
