Abstract
We report a case with 10 weeks intrauterine gestation requiring an emergency laparotomy due to ovarian cyst torsion. After histopathologic investigation, mucinous cystadenocarcinoma was diagnosed. At 15 weeks of gestation, chemotherapy combination with cisplatin and cyclophosphamide were administered. Medical oncology department applying chemotherapy, agreed with the pathology department of the same unit to perform a second histopathologic analysis. They concluded that the histopathologic diagnosis correlated with mucinous borderline ovarian tumor and the chemotherapy was stopped. At 38 weeks of gestation, patient underwent cesarean section combined with second-look laparotomy revealing no residual tumor. Postoperatively, periodical follow-ups of the patient showed no evidence of recurrence at 33 months following initial treatment.
