Abstract
In neoplasms, the anomalies of the coagulation and fibrinolysis are causing some complications. Protein C is the important inhibitor of the procoa-gulation system. In deficiency of Protein C, serious tromboembolic symptoms are being met. In this study 74 patients who had neoplasms and 21 normal controls were selected. Protein C activity was determined colorimetrically with the use of a chromogenic substrate. The activity of protein C in patients was detected low when compared with control group. Especially, the protein C activity was lower than nonmetastatic group when compared with metastatic group, (p < 0.01). We concluted that protein C defici-ency is due to decreased hepatic syntesis of protein C.
