Abstract

We aimed to evaluation HBV DNA levels, HBsAg positivity and transaminase levels for occult hepatitis in patients with HBV infection. Serum HBV DNA levels of 122 patients were studied by b- DNA (versant 3.0, Bayer). Serological markers were determined by chemilimunescence method (VITROS,Ortho-clinical diagnostics). Results were evaluated with transaminase levels by retrospectively. HBsAg was found negative in four (3.27 %) of patient. It was detected antiHBc positivity in three of patient and anti HCV positivity in one of patient. HBV DNA levels were 2000< genome/ml of patients. Our results suggested that HBV DNA levels may be very useful in diagnosis and follow-up periods of HBV infection. Serologic markers, HBV DNA and transaminase should be evaluated in ocult hepatitis infections.
