Özet

Türkiyede sosyoloji disiplininin akademik kurumsallaşmasını ve gelişiminikonu edinen makale, Avrupada ortaya çıkan sosyolojinin Türkiyede kurumsallaşmaserüveninden hareketle sosyolojinin Türkiyede gördüğü ilginin niteliğini ve sebeple- rini tartışmaktadır. Osmanlı döneminden başlayarak devletin kurtuluşunu Batılılaş- ma politikalarında gören, p ozitivist f elsef e ve sosy oloj i aracılığıyla Batı toplumlarınınseviyesine ulaşılabileceğini varsayan Türk entelektüelleri ilerleme ve düzen reçetelerinikendi dillerine aktarma yoluna gitmişlerdir. Siyasal hedeflerini Avrupada gelişmekteolan sosyal bilimlerin sağladığı meşruiyet çerçevesinde savunmalarına imkân tanıya- cak tarzda, kendi düşünsel geleneklerine uyumlu, belli bir siyaset önerisinde bulunanBatılı düşünürleri kendi ortamlarında tanıtmış; telif ve tercüme eserlerle, onların araş- tırma, kavram ve kuramlarını kendi ülkelerine uyarlamışlardır. Bu da Türk sosyolo- jisine bilinçli aktarmacılık özelliği kazandırmıştır. Makalede Türkiyede sosyolojinintarihi; akademi öncesi dönemde ve 1914, 1933, 1960 ve 1980 tarihleri sonrasındaöne çıkan ve temsil kabiliyeti yüksek sosyologlar, eserler ve tartışmalar dikkate alına- rak değerlendirilmektedir.

Abstract

This article deals with the development and academic institutionalizationof sociology in Turkey. Firstly, it outlined general characteristics of European andTurkish sociology and discussed the reasons for this shown interest in sociology.Since the Ottoman period, Turkish intellectuals who believed to save the state byWesternization policies as well as assumed to reach to Western social level bypositivist philosophy and sociology, have tried to transf er the prescription of orderand p rogress to their own language. They introduced those Western scholars fit intoTurkish political tradition, suggest a certain policy, and support their position bymeans of social scientific legitimacy. Through their own works and translations, theyadapted those Western scholars works, concepts and theories to the conditions oftheir country in which those works, concepts and theories brought the feature ofconscious transf erence to the Turkish sociology. In this article, the history of sociologyin Turkey is mainly based on leading sociologists, works and debates in the pre- andpost-academic periods before and after 1914, 1933, 1960 and 1980.
