Özet
İstanbul'da beş farklı yerleşim bölgesinde bulunan okulda, 13-18 yaş grubu öğrencilerde guatr prevalansı ve idrarla iyot atılımı araştırılmıştır. Palpasyonla yapılan guatr muayenesinde, 452 öğrencinin %39'unda görülür guatr (IB ve 2. derece) tespit edilmiştir. Bu oran, 311 erkek öğrencide %35.4, 141 kız öğrencide %46.8 olarak bulunmuştur. Kız ve erkek öğrenciler arasındaki guatr sıklığı farkı istatiksel olarak anlamlıdır (p 100 ug/L' dir. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre, İstanbul'da endemik guatr bulunmasına rağmen, iyot eksikliği olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır.
Abstract
The frequency of goitre and the levels of urinary iodine among highschool students before the official iodination of salt in Turkey. In this study, goitre frequency and urinary iodine excretion were investigated in the students, aged 13-18. Of the 452 students, 39% had visible goitre (grade Ib and 2) by palpation. Goitre prevalance was higher significantly (p 100 ug/L) in 80% and to be deficient in 19.98 % of the students. In conclusion, although Istanbul is an iodine sufficient area, goitre prevalance shows that it is an endemic goitre region.
