Abstract

The neurologic manifestations of vitamin B12 deficien- cy are the results of its effects on the brain, peripheral nerves, and spinal cord. Subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord is a complication of vitamin B12 defi- ciency, which is reversible if diagnosed and treated early. A 31-year-old male patient presented with complaints of growing numbness and weakness in his hands and legs. The patient’s laboratory tests were consistent megaloblas-tic anemia. Vitamin B12 level was found to be 66 pg/ml. Electromyography examination was consistent with senso- ry polyneuropathy. Cervical and dorsal spinal cord lesions were compatible with subacute combined degeneration. We reported this case to present neuroanemic syndrome caused by vitamin B12 deficiency.
