Abstract
According to the Jewish belief, the Torah is a book revealed to Moses. In the Torah, which is believed to be a book given by God from the beginning to the end, there are no clear expressions about life after death which is essential pillar of heavenly religions. Jewish scholars have tried to prove with some forced comments that afterlife was mentioned in the Torah. On the other hand, in the Neviim and Ketuvim sections of Tanakh, we can find more some weak expressions about life after death. However, the fact that it is not mentioned in the Torah, has been a moot point for centuries. This article discusses why the statements about the resurrection and the hereafter are not included in the Torah. In this framework, the reasons put forward by the medieval Jewish thinkers such as Saadia Gaon, İbn Meymun and İbn Kemmune to explain why Hereafter was not included in the Torah will be examined. Then, the statements of Jewish thinkers were tried to be tested through the ancient Egyptian records and the testimony of the Qur’an. Here, both in the light of Egyptian experience of Israelites and the testimonies of Moses and the prophets before him in the Qur’an. It was concluded that the Israelites of Moses period should have belief in Hereafter.
