Abstract

Cinematography is a term used to describe the entire design in the filmmaking process. One of the most important elements of this concept created by many elements such as imaging, editing, lighting, decor, space, make-up, costume, sound, special effect with a certain look and integrity is framing, that is composition. The design of the objects, place, actors, and colors to be included in the frame requires serious work and rehearsal in the pre-production process. Cinematographic framing arises from the interrelationship of other elements and reveals the director's own perspective. Many rules and items come into play in forming and aesthetizing the composition within the frame, such as a third rule, Fibonacci spiral, skyline rule, texture, rhythm, simplicity, fund. The two items that came to the fore to provide aesthetics while framing were symmetry and perspective. These two concepts have been used by many directors with different approaches since the day cinema was born. While the use of symmetry for Stanley Kubrick has been widely spread to his films, it is customary for directors like Steven Spielberg and Paul Thomas Anderson to comply with the rule of thirds or create frames on the Fibonacci spiral axis. American independent director Wes Anderson also displays a cinematography suitable for these articles, especially symmetry and perspective on framing. The main aim of this research is to discuss the importance of cinematographic framing by discussing the concepts of symmetry and perspective on the axis of Wes Anderson's films, to reveal how the use of symmetry and perspective transformed cinematography in his films. In this study, which is an exploratory field research, descriptive analysis method was used between films; In nine films in the director's filmography, the use of symmetry and perspective is supported with visuals, emphasizing the importance given to these two concepts in the personal expression method of the director, not only to reveal aesthetic frames
