TÜRKİYE'DE GAZETECİLİK EĞİTİMİ: AKADEMİ, ÖĞRENCİ VE SEKTÖR BEKLENTİLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Özet

İletişim alanında eğitim verilen ilk bölümler gazetecilik, radyo televizyon ve sinema ile halkla ilişkiler ve tanıtım olarak yer almaktadır. Zamanla iletişim fakültesi sayısı artış göstererek sıralanan bölümlere yenileri eklenmiş ve bir çeşitlilik yaşanmıştır. Bu durum iletişim eğitimine yönelik yürütülen tartışma ve çalışmaları artırmıştır. Gazetecilik eğitiminin esas alındığı bu çalışmada konuyla ilgili yapılan temel tartışmalardan yola çıkılarak akademi, öğrenci ve sektör beklentilerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaçla öğrenci, akademisyen ve sektör temsilcilerinden saha araştırması yöntemi kullanılarak farklı tekniklerle veriler toplanmıştır. Anket tekniğinin uygulanmasında Selçuk Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Gazetecilik Bölümü öğrencileri evren olarak belirlenerek, rastlantısal örneklem tercih edilmiş ve 300 katılımcı ile yüz yüze görüşme yapılmıştır. Akademisyen ve sektör temsilcilerinin beklentilerini tespit etmede mülakat tekniği ile veri toplanmıştır. Yapılandırılmış mülakat tekniği esas alınarak taraflara 8 soru yöneltilmiştir. Her 2 grup için de amaçlı örneklem kullanılmıştır. Gazetecilik bölümlerinde ders veren akademisyenleri temsilen 12 farklı üniversiteden 13 akademisyenle görüşme yapılmıştır. Örneklem seçiminde, devlet üniversiteleri dışındaki üniversitelerde de görev yapan akademisyenlerin bulunmasına dikkat edilmiştir. Sektör temsilcilerinin evrenini Konya yazılı yerel basın çalışanları oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçiminde sektör temsilcilerinin farklı birimlerde görev yapıyor olmaları göz önünde bulundurulmuştur. 7 farklı yerel gazetede faaliyet gösteren 10 sektör temsilcisinden veri toplanmıştır. Çalışmada ulaşılan sonuçlara göre öğrencilerin gazetecilik eğitiminden en önemli beklentileri; iyi bir gazeteci olmayı, bilgili ve kültürlü insan olmayı ve toplumdaki insanlardan farklı olmayı sağlamasıdır. Akademisyen ve sektör temsilcilerinin çalışmada irdelenen konular hakkında genel olarak benzer düşüncelere sahip oldukları görülmüş ve en önemli beklentilerinin iyi bir gazeteci yetiştirmek olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir. Gazetecilik eğitiminden temel beklentilerin ilgili taraflar için aynı olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir.

Abstract

The first departments trained in the field of communication are journalism, radio television and cinema, as well as public relations and publicity. Over time, the number of communication faculties increased and new ones were added to the listed departments and there was a diversity. This situation has increased the discussion and work carried out on communication education. In this study, which is based on journalism education, it is aimed to identify the expectations of academia, students and the sector by starting from the basic discussions on the subject. For this purpose, data was collected from students, academicians and sector representatives using field research method with different techniques. In the application of the survey technique, students of the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Communication of Selcuk University were identified as universe, a random sample was preferred and 300 participants were interviewed face-to-face. Data was collected by interview technique to determine the expectations of academicians and sector representatives. 8 questions were asked to the parties based on the structured interview technique. A purposeful sample was used for all 2 groups. 13 academics from 12 different universities were interviewed representing the academics who taught in the journalism departments. In the selection of the sample, attention was paid to the presence of academics who also work in universities other than public universities. The universe of sector representatives was formed by Konya written local press employees. In the selection of the sample, it was taken into account that representatives of the sector work in different units. Data was collected from 10 sector representatives operating in 7 different local newspapers. According to the results obtained in the study, the most important expectations of students from journalism education are to be a good journalist, to be a knowledgeable and cultured person, and to be different from people in society. Academicians and industry representatives were found to have generally similar thoughts about the issues examined in the study, and it was concluded that their most important expectations were to train a good journalist. It has been concluded that the basic expectations from journalism training are the same for the interested parties.
