Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, Shigella suşlarının antibiyotik duyarlılıklarını saptamaktır. 1995 ve 1996 yıllarında Pamukkale Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Mikrobiyoloji Laboratuvan'nda dışkı kültürlerinden izole edilen 67 Shigella susunun türleri belirlenerek çeşitli antibiyotiklere karşı in vitro duyarlılıkları disk difüzyon yöntemiyle incelendi, izole edilen 67 sustan 34'ü S. flexneri.
Abstract
This study aimed at determining the antibiotic susceptibility of Shigella strains. Sixty-seven Shigella strains were isolated from stool specimens in the Laboratory of Microbiology Department, Medical School, Pamukkale University, in 1995 and 1996. The isolates were identified biochemically and serologically. Thirty four per cent of 67 Shigella strains was S. flexneri: 23 % S. sonnei, 8 % S. dysenteriae and 2 % S. boydii. The antibiotic susceptibility tests were by using disk diffusion method. Sixty per cent of 67 isolates was susceptible to ampicillin, 84 % to amoxicillin-clavulanate, 84 % to sulbactam-ampicillin, 54 % to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, 67 % to chloramphenicol, 40 % to tetracyline, 69 % to cephalothin, 96 % to gentamicin. All Shigella strains were susceptible to ceftriaxone, imipenem and ciprofloxacin. It is concluded that Shigella strains have acquired resistance to routine antibiotics used in the treatment of Shigellosis and that therapy should be carried out according to the antibiotic susceptibility tests.
