Abstract
The study intended to detect HBV-HCV markers in puplic service persons and to prepare a vaccination program for them. Specimens for micro-ELISA test to detect HBsAg, anti-HBs, antiHBc IgG and antiHCV antibody markers in the Kocatepe University Hospital of Afyon by Diasorin commercial kits were drawn from 1,720 persons, 364 (21.2%) female, 1,356 (78.8%) male, age range 20-58 (mean 38.5+13.6). HBsAg, antiHBs and antiHBcIgG positivity were found to 9.4%, 19.6% and %20.7 in men and 6.0%, 15.3% and 17.0% in women, respectively. Only antiHBcIgG positivity was found to be 4.8% in men and 3.8% in women. There was no significant correlation between these two groups in respect to contact with HBV (p>0.05). Anti-HCV antibody was found to be positive 1.0% and 0.8% in men and women, respectively. As a measure, vaccination and prevention program is started according to individuals whose HBV infectivity status was determined by HBV markers.
