Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Gram-negatif bakterilerde genişlemiş spektrumlu beta-laktamaz (Extended-spectrum Beta-Lactamase=ESBL) varlığını araştırmak ve ESBL saptamada kullanılan çift disk sinerji (ÇDS) ve E-test yöntemlerini karşılaştırmak idi. Çeşitli klinik örneklerden izole edilen 52 Escherichia coli, 12 Klebsiella spp., altı Proteus spp. suşunda ESBL her iki yöntemle araştırılıp sonuçlar karşılaştırıldı.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) in Gram-negative bacteria and also to compare the methods used, namely, double disk synergy (DOS) method and E-test. In 52 Escherichia coli, 12 Klebsiella and six Proteus strains isolated from several clinical samples ESBL was invest/gated using the two methods. The existence of ESBL was detected in 10 of E. coli and five of Klebsiella strains by DOS test, eight of E. coli and seven of Klebsiella strains by E-test; all Proteus strains were ESBL negative with both methods. The results indicated that, none of the methods was better than the other.
