Abstract

TT virus is a novel DNA virus first isolated in the serum of three patients with posttransfusion hepatitis. All over the world TTV DNA has been detected in the sera of blood donors, transfusion patients and individuals infected with hepatitis viruses. Further investigations are needed to decide whether TT virus is a cause of hepatitis or not. In this study, TTV DNA rates were studied in blood donors and patients infected with hepatitis B and C . Positivity rates were found as %7.1 %23.0 and %40.0 in 70 blood donors, HBsAg and HBV DNA positive 65 patients and anti -HCV and HCVRNA positive 65 patients, respectively. Statistically there was significant difference between the groups.
