Özet

Mersin Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Mikrobiyoloji Laboratuvarı'na 24.4.1999 ile 15.4.2002 tarihleri arası üç yıllık sürede gönderilen çeşitli klinik örneğin direkt preparat ve kültür sonuçlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu örneklerin 969 (%71.7)'u solunum yollarına aitti. Bu sürede değerlendirilen 1351 örneğin 99 (%7.3)'unda asido-rezistan basil üremiş ve 61 (%4.51) örneğin direkt preparat sonucu pozitif bulunmuştur. Direkt preparat sonucu pozitif olan sekiz örnekte kültürde üreme saptanmamıştır. Direkt preparat; duyarlılığı %53 ve özgüllüğü %99, pozitif prediktif değeri %86 ve negatif prediktif değeri %96 olarak bulunmuştur. Sonuç olarak, direkt mikroskobik incelemenin duyarlılığı düşük olmasına karşın tüberkülozun erken tanısında ucuz, hızlı ve kolay uygulanabilmesi önemli rol oynamaktadır.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the mycobacteriological results of smears and cultures of various clinical specimens which were submitted to the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Mersin University, in the last three years between 24.4.1999 and 15.4.2002. The 969 (71.7%) of the all specimens were from respiratory tract. In the evaluation of 1351 specimens, 99 (7.3%) grew acid-fast bacilli (ATB) and 61 (%4.51) were smear-positive for AFB. The overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive values and negative values were found as 53%, 99%, 86% and 96%, respectively. Although the sensitivity of direct microscopical examination is low, it is important in the early diagnosis tuberculosis since it is an easy, cheap and rapid procedure.
