Tarih kaynaklarımızın vermiş olduğu bilgiye göre Sind bölgesine yönelik Müslümanların ilk fetihhareketleri Hz. Ömer (h.13-23 /m. 634-644) dönemine rastlar. Halife Ömer dönemindenEmevîler dönemine kadar bölge için Arap Müslümanlar tarafından mücadele verildiğigörülmektedir. Halife Velîd b. Abdülmelik (h. 85-96 /m.705-715) döneminde Doğu bölgelerininfetihlerinden sorumlu, kudretli Irak valisi Haccâc b. Yûsuf tarafından Sind valiliğine Muhammedb. Kâsım’ın (h. 92-96/m. 711-715) görevlendirilmesiyle bölgede hâkimiyet tam anlamıylaMüslüman Arapların eline geçmiştir. Muhammed b. Kâsım genç yaşına rağmen gerek başarılıfetihleri gerekse bölgede uygulamış olduğu politika ile Sind bölgesi için önemli bir isim olmuştur.Bu çalışmada Muhammed b. Kâsım’ın Sind bölgesine gelişi, fetihleri ve bölgenin İslâmlaşmasıkonusunda yapmış olduğu faaliyetler ele alınmıştır

Abstract

According to the information provided by our historical sources, the first Muslim conquest movements against the Sind region coincided during the time of Caliph Omar (Ah.13-23 /Ad. 634-644). From the period of Caliph Omar to the Umayyad period, it is seen that Arab Muslims struggle a lot for this region. During the period of Caliph Walid b. Abdulmalik (Ah. 85-96 / Ad.705-715), the governor of Iraq, Hajjaj b. Yûsuf, who was responsible for the conquests of the eastern regions, appointed Mohammed b. Qasim (Ah. 92-96 /Ad. 711-715) to the governorship of Sind, and in result sovereignty in the region was completely taken over by the Muslim Arabs. Despite his young age, Mohammed b. Qasim has become an important name for the Sind region with his successful conquests and the policy he has implemented in the region. In this study, the arrival of Muhammad b. Qasim in the Sind region, his conquests and the activities of the region regarding the Islamization of the region are discussed
