Abstract

There are many studies on population and finance registers in Ottoman State. However, there is not much research on both the population and economy of Romanies. In this study, Romanies in the population and financial registries have been researched. In this research which covers the period between 1830 and 1848, economy of the Romanies population, population change and occupation types were determined and compared with other population elements. Thus, the economic, social and population status of the Romanies in Keşan from the 18-year period was revealed.
