Abstract
This article; the relations of Cemahir-i Selase-i Hanseatik -known as German trade organisation and composed of Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck- and Ottoman Empire in the second half of 19th century (1839-1871) have been observed in this study. The organisation which is also known as Hanseatik league is a business organisation founded in 13th century in order to protect mutual benefits of cities in North Germany and German groups living in other countries. Bremen, Hamburg and Lubeck have been the last three candidates in 1669 joining Hansa Union which was at the peak of its impact area. Beside trade relations with these Hanseatik cities, it is also known that Ottoman Empire has diplomatic relations with them in Tanzimat reform era. The agreements between Ottoman Empire and Cemahir’i Selase-i Hanseatik were generally committed in order to provide continuity to commercial activities and keep them in secure way. Seyr-i Sefain agreements have importance among counterparties in terms of free movement in seas and keeping consuls mutually. The content of commercial and diplomatic relations in the dates of 1839-1871 between Ottoman Empire and Hanseatik league are the focal point of this study.
