Settlement-Population and Economy in The Ottoman Classical Period: Example of Bozdoğan

Özet

Bu çalışmada Batı Anadolu bölgesinde yer alan Aydın sancağına bağlı Bozdoğankazasının 15 ve 16. yüzyıllardaki soyo-ekonomik durumu incelenmiştir. Bu bağlamda farklıtarihlerde tanzim edilen tahrir kayıtları incelenmiş olup, tahrirlerin düzenlendikleri zamanaralığı zarfında kazanın nüfus, yerleşme ve iktisadi faaliyetlerindeki farklılaşmalargözlemlenmiştir. Özellikle tahrir defterlerinden hareketle 15 ve 16. yüzyıllarda Bozdoğankazasını meydana getiren köyler, mezraalar, vakıflar ve oymakların durumları ortayakonarak, kazada yetiştirilen ürünler ile bunlardan alınan vergiler ele alınmıştır.

Abstract

In this study, the socio-economic status of the Bozdoğan sub province of Aydın sanjak in the in Western Anatolia during the 15th and 16th centuries were investigated. In this context, Tahrir Registers, which were prepared on different dates, were examined and differences in population, settlement and economic activities of this sub province were observed within the time period where the Tahrirs were arranged. Especially in the 15th and 16th centuries, the situation of villages, hamlets, foundations and communities in the Bozdoğan sub province were mentioned, and also the growing crops in the sub province with the taxes taken from them were discussed.
