Özet
Osmanlı Devleti birçok yönüyle Doğudan Batıya doğruevrilirken inşa edilen Darülfünun (1863-1933),imparatorluktan ulus-devlete geçişte son derece önemliipuçları veren bir kurum idi. Bu çalışmada, öncelikle BalkanSavaşları (1912-1913) sırasında okuldaki seferberlik durumuortaya konuldu. Balkan devletlerine karşı amansız birmücadele verilirken Darülfünun aracılığıyla gerçekleştirilenorganizasyonların Büyük Savaş (1914-1918), Millî Mücadele(1918-1923) ve Cumhuriyet dönemlerine olan etkilerinedikkat çekildi. Balkan Savaşları öncesinde düzenlenenöğrenci mitingleri sayesinde “Müdafaa-i Hukuk” ruhununtemellerinin atıldığı belirtildi.
Abstract
Darülfünun (1863-1933), which was built while theOttoman Empire was evolving from the East to theWest in many ways, was an institution that gaveextremely important clues in the transition from theempire to the nation-state. In this study, first of all, thesituation of mobilization in the school during theBalkan Wars was revealed. While a relentless strugglewas waged against the Balkan states, the effects of theorganizations organized through Darülfünun on theGreat War (1914-1918), the National Struggle (1918- 1923) and the Republic periods were noted. It wasstated that the foundations of the spirit of "Defense ofLaw" were laid thanks to the student meetings heldbefore the Balkan Wars (1912-1913). It wasemphasized that the conferences organized byintellectual women at the school during the most heatedtime of the war were a breaking moment in thedevelopment of Turkish women's rights. It was focusedon what kind of a model constituted for futuregenerations by the coordinated activities of professorsand students with civil organizations in the war. On theaxis of aid from foreign Turks and Muslims, it wasmentioned how ideologies and humanitarian feelingsaffected the war. It was explained that the Turks inRussia and the Muslim communities in the Middle Easteven could not provide direct financial resources, theyprovided other kinds of support to the Ottomans It hasbeen documented with concrete data that Muslimsliving in India, China, Malaysia, Singapore andIndonesia in the Far East somehow contacted theOttomans. However, during the war, the Ottomanswere not only helped by the Turkish-Islamic world.Although they respect Islam as a society, a helpinghand was extended to the Turks from Japan, where theMuslim population is very small. One of the other maintopics covered in the study was the Turkish-Japanesefriendship, which was reinforced by the Balkan Warsat the center of the Darülfünun. From this point of view, the "ethical universe" created by the school whilestruggling with very harsh conditions in the war wasrevealed. Darülfünun played a leading role in thedialogue with higher education youth in Tokyo duringthe Balkan Wars. Thus, it showed that Darülfünun wentbeyond being an ordinary educational institution. Therelations established with the small giant of the Far Eastat those times reflected positively on the Republic ofTurkey.
