Bu makale III. Ahmet (1703-1730) döneminde padişahın huzurunda yapılan güreş müsabakalarını ele alarak, güreş müsabakalarının yalnızca bir spor olmakla kalmayıp dini, içtimai ve askeri öneme haiz, geniş alanda etkili bir spor olduğunu göstermektedir.

Abstract

This article examines the wrestling matches done in the presence of Ottoman sultan Ahmet III (r.1703-1730) and suggests that wrestling in the Ottoman Empire was not merely a sport but had religious, social, and military significance with widespread influence.
