Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Dihydroxyaluminium sodium carbonate (DASC) and Omeprazole on Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). With simple random sampling method, 22 healthy subjects were selected and three OGTTs were performed in consecutive weeks on each subject with 75 g of glucose. The first OGTT was considered as the control, the second was carried out with 680 mg DASC tablets p.o. just before glucose intake, and the third was made by administering 20 mg/day of omeprazole p.o. for three days. The data were evaluated with Wilcoxon signed-rank test. All the results of the control OGTTs were in the normal range. The results of the second and third sets of OGTTs were higher than the control values. At the 90th minute, the mean peak values were obtained for all three sets of OGTTs. The mean blood glucose concentrations observed under the effects of DASC and omeprazole were respectively 1.38 mmol/L (Zo=-3,85 p
