1020 yenidoğanın 5151 kız, 505'i erkekti.
Abstract
1020 healthy term neonates bom in Zeynep Kamil Research and Training Hospital between June 2001 and June 2002 were evaluated for their birth weight , height, chest and head circumference. The effects of maternal age , smoking , parity and time interval between pregnancies on each measurement were also evaluated. Of the 1020 newborns 515 were female 505 were ma-le.Mean birth weight was 3312+ 427.gr for male infants and 3184 ±393 gr for female infants .All the measurements were higher for male infants than for female infants and the difference was statistically significant. Maternal age and parity were found to have effect on birth weight. Mean head circumference was 34 ,75 cm± 1.25cm and 34,27 ± 1,75 cm for male and female neonates respectively.Only maternal smoking head a negative effect on head circumference. For the male infants average chest circumference was 33,04±1,75cm while that of the female infants was 32,5±1,84cm .No correlation could be shown between chest circumference and the study paremeters.
