Abstract

40 patients, previously operated upon pre-diagnosis of wrist ganglion, were retrospectively examined in our department between January 2003 and December 2008. All patients were monitored with radiography, ultrasonography (USG) and 10 patients were monitoredpreoperatively with magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Average age of the patients was 28, with the eldest 60 and the youngest 13 years old. 42 tumors were excised from 40 patients. 22 of these lesions were located on dorsal surfaces while 20 were located on volar ones. Microscopic histopathological examinations confirmed the diagnosis of ganglion in each case. One patient was operated under general anesthesia while the rest were operated under regional intravenous anesthesia (RIVA). During the post-op period, patients were provided with 1 week rest and hand elevation. They were followed for 1 year. There was relapse in 2 patients. There was no relapse, no pain with the other patients. There was no functional complaint detected in any of the patients.
