Abstract
Purpose: New generation treatment modalities in the treatment of hemorrhoid disease are becoming more widespread. One of these is laser hemorrhoidoplasty. Here in, results of patients who underwent this procedure are presented.Method: Results of 12 patients with third or fourth grade hemorrhoid disease who underwent hemorrhoidoplasty between February 2011 and March 2013 were evaluated. Results: There were 6 males and 6 females with an average age of 48 years. Average operation duration was 17 minutes, and average laser energy used during operation was 240 joule/pake. Postoperative pain level evaluated with visual analog scale at 1st, 3rd and 7th days were 1.8, 0.5, and 0.2, respectively. A perfect continence score was obtained according to Cleveland continence scoring system. Average time to return to regular daily activities was determined to be 2.8 days. Conclusion: Laser hemorrhoidoplasty, is a promising method due to many advantages like being minimally invasive, minimal postoperative pain level, no anal stenosis, quick return to daily life and being an outpatient procedure, high postoperative life quality
