Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify and determine the cause of death for the archeological excavations, grave openings and the anthrolpologic results of the human remains found in the districts of Avcılar and Kucukcekmece situated in the Kucukcekmece basin inİstanbul province. Of the excavated 15 differentskeletons, we analysed that five of them belongedto adult male, four were adult female, fourwere children and two of them were fetus skeletons. We were able to carry out 93% of theheight measurements of the 15 skeletons and100% of their age range. The categoric data ofthe reseach were analysed using chi-squaretest, non parametric data with Mann-WhitneyU test and the data is given as mean and standarddeviation. The determinations of the exactlocation of the graves before excavation, theburial of all the skeletons in single grave, theability to measure the grave sizes, the openingof the graves under the supervition of experts, the measurements being done at the grave siteand the insitu observation of the skeleton positionscontributed much to the determination ofthe exact number of bodies, the high accuracyrate of height and age determination.
