Abstract

In this study, starting from the reveal of the reign ideologies of the patron‟s along with their administrative and financial powers on the buildings in a city, in Mehmed I (1413-1421) period, the reflections of the political structure and political relations on the architectural works will be discussed. Mehmet I is the second or third son of Bayezid I., he fought for throne with his brothers Emir Süleyman, İsa and Musa Çelebi and ascended the throne in 1413. After 11 years of confusion and disorder, he restored the order again in the Ottoman Seignor. This particular situation that Mehmed I imposed on himself in connection with his political personality has reflections on the architectural works in the city. As clearly told in the inscription of his lodge in the capital city Bursa, “...might work of power jeweller...”, of all the buildings that made sense for the different characteristics of the Sultan should be thought as “might works” reflecting his signature in important cities. Along with the arcitectural works, the most important data help to reveal the reign ideology and power of the bani that are the inscriptions written on the buildings within the knowledge or the order of him. As a sultan and bani, in the inscriptions of Mehmed I, the titles he used to describe himself as a founder, and his reign are the important datas of how he wants to see himself.
