Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Hacettepe Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Diş Hastalıkları ve Tedavisi Anabilim Dalı öğrenci kliniğine başvuran hastalardaki restorasyonların yenilenme nedenlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Bireyler ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma Hacettepe Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Diş Hastalıkları ve Tedavisi Anabilim Dalı öğrenci kliniğine Ekim 2006-Nisan 2007 tarihleri arasında başvuran hastalarda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Stajyer öğrenciler tarafından hastaların muayenesini yapılmış, bilgi formlarına hastanın yaşı, cinsiyeti, yenilenen restorasyonun yaşı, restoratif materyalin türü ve yenilenme nedenleri kaydedilmiştir. Bulgular: Yapılan 3126 restorasyonun 397’sinin restorasyon yenilenmesi olduğu görülmüştür. Restorasyonları yenilenen hastaların % 33,25’i erkek, % 66,75’i kadın olup, yaş ortalaması 34’dür.

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the reasons for replacement of restorations in patients who attended at student clinics of Department of Restorative Dentistry, in Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry Subjects and Method: The survey was carried out from October 2006 to April 2007 in patients who attended for treatment at student clinics of Department of Restorative Dentistry, in Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry. The patients were examined by dentistry students and the age and gender of the patient, the age and type of the restoration being replaced and reasons for replacement of restorations were recorded on data collection forms. Results: Of the 3126 restorations, 397 had replacements. With regard to the patient data, 33,25% of the restorations were replaced in male patients, and 66,75% in female patients with a mean age of 34. Of the restorations replaced, 60,43% were amalgam, 39,57% were composite resin. The mean age of the restorations being replaced was 6.17 years for amalgam and 4.18 years for composite. The major reason for replacement of amalgam restorations was secondary caries (%58.17) followed by marginal failure (%19.25), restoration fracture (%18.75), loss of restoration (%1.4), discoloration (%0.63) and tooth fracture (%0.45). For composite resin restorations, secondary caries (%55.34) was the main reason for replacement followed by marginal failure (%18.06), restoration fracture (%16.15), discoloration (%8.8), loss of restoration (%1.2) and tooth fracture (%0.45). Conclusion: Secondary caries was the main reason for the replacement of amalgam and composite resin restorations.
