Some analytical expressions for the variance function in renewal processes

Abstract

In this study, analytical expressions are given for the variance function in renewal process with two-parameter exponential, hyper exponential and gamma distributed time durations between renewals. For gamma renewal process, the plug in estimator based on the expression obtained is evaluated using a simulation study.
