Abstract

Geopolitics is the base of the knowledge and opportunities of politics, what creates the upper comportment and conducts the other factors. Before RF, the Russian geopolitics seemed to be sidelined in its politics but now it seems to have changed. After the collapse of USSR, the geopolitics of the Caucasus has changed radically. It used to be totally under control of the Soviet, but the sudden international interest in the area effected both Caucasus and Russian Federation (RF). In the study, it was tried to bring up that the politics of RF is based on geopolitics and through this base, effected items were national security, foreign affairs, military and economical structures were tried to be high lightened. It can be seen that the geopolitics of North Caucasus effected RF s Georgian geopolitics especially in the circumstance of South Ossetia s key position.
