Özet

Giriş: Yenidoğan periyodunda Grup B streptokok kaynaklı sepsis ve diğer enfeksiyonlar hayatın erken döneminde (erken başlangıçlı sepsis) ve geç döneminde (geç başlangıçlı sepsis) görülür. Olgu Sunumu: Yenidoğan hastada sepsis, menenjit, ventrikülit, osteomiyelit ve abse gelişimi ile giden multifokal grup B streptokok infeksiyonu olgusu sunulmuştur. Ventrikülit sıklıkla grup B streptokokkal menenjit sonrası gelişen bir komplikasyondur. Tartışma: Multifokal grup B streptokok infeksiyonu nadir görülür ve tedaviye dirençli ya da hidrosefali gelişen hastalarda grup B streptokokkal ventrikülitten şüphelenilmelidir. Abstract

Introduction: Group B streptococci cause sepsis and other infections in newborns very early in life (early-onset sepsis) and also later (late-onset sepsis) in the newborn period. Case Report: A case of multifocal group B streptococcal infection with sepsis, meningitis, ventriculitis, osteomyelitis and abscesses in a newborn infant was reported. Ventriculitis is often thought of as a secondary complication of acute group B streptococcal meningitis. Conclusion: Multifocal group B streptococcal infection is rare and group B streptococcal ventriculitis should be suspected in cases that are refractory to treatment or in patients who later develop hydrocephalus.
