Abstract
In the era of global business and competitiveness, facility location selection has emerged as the critical issue for the success of companies. Facility location selection decision is a highly complex decision-making problem, for the evaluation procedures involve several criteria and the solution to the problem calls for some compromises to be made between probable conflicting criteria. Therefore, this paper aims to evaluate the problem of facility location selection by using the analytic network process (ANP) approach, a multi-criteria decision-making technique. An illustrative example is presented in this paper to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed methodology over the existing quantitative approaches. The ANP technique enables us to consider both qualitative and quantitative criteria as well as the interdependencies and feedbacks. A number of criteria (performance criteria and main criteria) and their sub-criteria are considered for sitting a new facility with which this study has dealt. Three representative locations were evaluated and the most appropriate one was selected.
