Abstract
With about ten reading methods at his/her disposal, a person studying literature can choose whichever one suits him/her the most. But this choice is problematic. Which methods should he/she choose and apply? Should one adopt the most objective, the most scientific methods or would it be better to opt for the freest, most creative one or perhaps the most subjective one from the artistic or aesthetique standpoint, as might be chosen by a director that puts on a play?Professor Inal, who discussed this problem in his article entitled A proposal for a reading method: an empathic approach- FRANKOFONI 18, pp. 3-26- has resumed his discussion in this essay on the empathic approach in selected texts from Spleen de Paris and Fleurs du Mal, which are in the red pages. He considers, as an essayist, within the framework of intertextuality and in his own style, the dialectic, existential and aesthetic problems that Baudelaire never ceased to treat in his works: the good, the bad, sincerity, artificiality, ugliness, the wonderful, the ordinary, paradise and hell.
