FRANSIZ ŞİİRİNDEN İLK ÇEVİRİLER VE ALFRED DE MUSSET’NİN TÜRK ŞAİRLERİNE ETKİSİ

Abstract

It is well-known that the translations into Turkish of various French poems that fiinasipublished entitled Tercüme-i Manzume (Poetic Translations) were the first contacts that Turkishpoets had with French poetry. Later Racine, de Lamartine and de Gilbert were replaced by theFrench neo-classisists and romantics from the 1880’s onwards. In this framework, Alfred deMusset and more specifically his poem, Rappelle-toi, was well-known and liked by Turkish poets.The new translations in short intervals of this poem, that was first translated by Nigâr Han›m, andthe adaptations made from these translations immediately show its impact. The influence of deMusset on our poetry is finally materialized through the poem by Tevfik Fikret entitled Mussetiçin (For Musset) which increased the fame of the French poet.
